Child Care from Yan's Eyes

Yan Tiar - Child care coordinator, Padeh-Poriya hospital in TiberiasPadeh-PoriyaPadeh-PoriyaPadeh-Poriya Padeh-Poriya

I wanted to share what I’ve been going through for the last two weeks.

I’m taking part in a very important national mission during these times – child care for about 50 children of workers at Padeh-Poriya Hospital.

We’re trying to make a routine out of chaos and uncertainty, and to give each child a feeling that they have a place here. This moving project is taking place thanks to a large group of people, volunteers, and organizations who are working day and night for these children, and for their parents – the medical staff of Poriya Hospital – to be able to continue their difficult task, saving human life.

The activities include storytelling, videos about the day’s activities (right now we’re doing a Discovering the World week), camping skills, dancing, sports (thanks to Hechalutz – Education through Sports), all in accordance with Ministry of Health regulations.

I have been moved this week seeing soldiers during the national mission part of their service, the teacher-soldiers, youth and dedicated counselors, led by the coordinators and counselors from Dror Israel.

Thank you to all of the partners in the project – Eshkol Kinneret Amakim, the Lower Galilee Regional Council, and the Ministry of Education’s society and youth department - for support and guidance, and to the Alei Giva school for hosting us.

Thank you so much to everyone who has enlisted in this national educational mission, and for increasing the solidarity in Israeli society during these tough times.
